Scam phone calls

Had a phone call today - purporting to be from my "credit management service" it was a recorded message with a lot of waffle which concluded with "This could be your last warning. To continue press 5 or to be removed from our lists press 3." (or words to that effect)
Needless to say I didn't press any buttons, just hung up. Then I dialled 1471 and the number that came up was 0016169802873, which I believe is a US number.
I've reported this to Trading Standards. I know there are lots of these scam calls going round - it pays to be vigilant.
