Got a Dell Insprion (yes I know I should have got it from Dell) from PC
Was last one on display so they knocked me £20 off
had to call back next day so the engineers could reformatt it back to factory settings.
This took 3 days and no one called

Got the comp and there was red blur round words so they told me I needed to change display settings. did that the red went but the screeen was too bright. clicked back to default and it was really bad.

Rang dell they said it was the graphics cards. sent it them,. they had it a week replaced the motherboard. No idea why a new comp needed new m/b

Guess what its even worse now I got it back
Bloke at dell said its not the graphics card cos they have installed the new m/b
he said not the monitor as I have checked it on another one

Lasrt thing he said was to change to the monitor cable which of course didnt work
Have had enough. Can I just take it all back to PC World and get my money back or will they say Dell are to blame?

Your contract is with PC World.

They can blame Dell all they like - they are still responsible for fixing the problem or refunding.

Youve made a mess by contacting Dell. I honestly dont know WHERE you stand now! You SHOULD have taken it back to PC World

    Agreed.
PCWorld could claim the warranty is invalid since an unauthorised person has opened and tampered with the machine. I realise that Dell ar not exactly dummies but I doubt they'll be on the PCWorld list of approved repair shops. More than likely they'd only deal with it in store.

Not sure of your position now - I'd go back to PCWorld and see what happens. You could say you've lost confidence in the machine and need it to be reliable and try for a refund - you don't say how long you've had it. The longer the more difficult it is to ask for a refund.

    Good luck!

  • Return to PC World. Smile ask for refund, sound like they used the wrong setup discs to install the operating and system driver files. Keep stumm and get your money back. The more you blab the deeper the hole you will dig for yourself. Don't offer any infomation, it just dosen't work from the first day you collected it.
