in Techie Stuff
i have been told that i can download movies from the intranet. how do i do this and can i store them somewhere so i can watch them when away on hols or do i need to watch them straight away?

Channel 4's on demand service (4OD) allows you to download films. You don't have to watch them immediately, but you only have a certain period of time to watch them before they stop working.

As DCFC79 says, there are ways to download commercially produced films for free, although this usually breaches copyright licences. There are also websites where you can watch films online (a bit like YouTube). Needless to say, they also break the relevant licences.
Free software such as Miro allows you to watch a variety of programmes legitimately:
