Unable to print from desktop

I have a problem and wonder if anyone could help. I have a Dell Dimension 8400 and a Dell AIO 922 printer connected to it. Whilst completing an application form today I thought I would try and print the job spec from Adobe, however nothing happened. I then tried to print from MS Word and again nothing.

I've checked to see if the printed is set as the default and it is. I've unistalled and then reinstalled it and still the problem is not solved.

Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be?

    Do you have the updated drivers for the printer on your machine?

    I think so. I checked on the Dell website and also did a search on Google and they both came up with the same driver. I ran Windows Update and it asked me to download some imaging update for the printer so I downloaded that.

    It was working fine about 2 weeks ago so I don't understand what has happened. I've scanned for viruses and spyware (with ESET Smart Securty, Spybot S&D and also MalwareBytes) but these have come up clean.

  • when you say you cant print, do you get the print dialog box but once you click print nothing comes out? or is it something else that does or doesnt happen?

    Sometimes the print dialogue box comes up other times it's an error message about the print spooler service. I think I may have to tinker with the registry so i'm going to leave it for the time being. At least until I feel extremly brave (or stupid) enough to mess with the registry.
