AEG engineers caused damage to wood flooring

I was after some advice from anyone out there!!! I am new here and would appreciate hearing back from anyone who has found themselves in a similar situation.....
Basically, we spent a lot of money of the top of the range AEG washing machine when we fitted our kitchen. After six months the machine completely packed in. AEG agreed to fit a new machine and sent engineers round for the installation. These engineers caused damage to our six month old beautiful engineered wood flooring when they replaced the machine - a massive five inch scratch right across the kitchen floor which I am GUTTED about.
I have written to them asking for compensation, but I have yet to have any success. AEG don't want to know as they say it is their distribution centre at fault and not them. The engineers themselves are claiming that I pointed out the damage before they started work - which is completely untrue and not the case as there were no marks on the new flooring before they started, however it is my word against the engineers.
So not really sure where to go with this one - it seems so unfair that this damage has been caused as the flooring cost a fortune to buy and fit and it was also not our fault. Also angry with AEG as their customer service has been dreadful - particularly after the machine cost us around £600 to begin with.
Does anyone have any advice on what to do - two months of writing and calling the relevant organisations does not seem to be coming to much!
Thanks
Kate
