  • Hi Everyone

Sorry all went quiet, but just moved so had no internet for 2 weeks!!

Well, Halifax have admitted they got it wrong and they owe me 1,000 plus, they still haven't come up with a final amount and I don't know when I will get the money, but they say it will be very soon.

    I'll keep you updated!!

    Thanks

What are you on about esbo?
I think he was just saying that the OP was not clear about what the rate he spoke of really was, ie the
basis on which it was calculated was. APR or monthly or what ever.
It just says net rate, net meaning after tax, which is irrelevant but you cannot determiie
the period to which the rate refers to hence it is just a guessing game.

Fantastic! That's a pretty big mistake to make.

Despite Esbo's boasting and seemingly trying to impress with an inappropriate cut and paste from wikipedia, I'm really not sure he understands things very well at all.

I wonder if he truly understands the relationship between the two figures 5.25% AER (5.19% gross) he used in post 9 or even if he realises that that combination of figures is an unusual one for a monthly paying account.

If not before, certainly by the time he quoted me,he should have understood that if OP was giving a net rate then from that a gross per annum rate could be calculated.

  • Hi everyone

Good news, The Halifax have finally paid out to the sum of 1,171.40p, I think it was the fact that i'd finally had enough and went marching down to my branch in Hastings and kicked up a fuss, and demanded that it was sorted out before i left. I told them that i wrote in to this forum and got better advice than anyone at the Halifax was able to give me, so once again thanks to you all!!
