Hello everyone
This is my first posting after having read the posts on this fine site over a period of time.
Any one invested with "United Trust Bank" ???
They have a "6 month fixed sterling deposit account" @7.00% gross, the words in quote are the exact wording on the application form.
It seems they only have one branch/office located in London, Haymarket SW1.
Anyone know much about them ? had dealings with theh etc ?
I applied for the application form and recieved it today, I tend to read the small print more closely than the large print on general terms & conditions forms as that where the need to know is usally written !!!
I can not see where is states that over the 6 month period the interist is fixed at 7.00%
?
My main question is this ... is a "fixed deposit account" same as a "fixed interist rate bond"
do both mean the interist rate is fixed for the given period, in this case 7.00% gross.
Any thoughts appreciated.

'Bond' is the current flavour of the month with bank & building society marketing departments, they are all basically fixed-rate, fixed-term deposit accounts - real bonds are investment, rather than savings products.0

They just dropped their advertised rate by 0.5% so it is no longer the leader

You might want to check if you will still be getting the old rate?0
