Telewest Broadband vent

Options
I had a installation date 29th oct, enginneer arrived,i wanted internet upstairs and telephone donwnstairs.

He told me wasn,t allowed to drill holes inside the house and didn't have any drills anyway:mad:(1st lie) .Ok i will drill the holes,if you give me the drill bits,oh,ok then here are the drill bits.

I had to drill the hole for the telephone cable from outside and through another wall and threaded the cable through(as he wanted to run the cable along the skirting and around the door frame)very unsightly.

Next I drilled hole from the bedroom to outside.
i have a fitted draws in the room,so i took out the bottom draws so he could just lay the cable on the floorboards and they would be hidden.
Sorry can't drill through the side of the units 10mm (have you got a drill)Yes i have a drill give it hear,I'll drill the 2 small holes 10mm.
I drilled 1 hole, but had a knock at the door, when i came back, he had put the cable through the 1st hole and because i hadn't had time to drill the 2nd he let the cable come through the opening for the draw and connected the modem(i had to laugh).:rotfl:
Get the cable out of the openning and i will drill the 2nd hole for you(but is is connected now he said).

My reply,if you don't do it now, pick your tools up and sod-off out of my house now. he moved it;)
The only hole he drilled was through my front wall to the TV point and then he damaged my brick.
Then on leaving he handed me my new telephone number, I am keeping my BT line number and it should have been swopped over:mad:

Spoke to the manager of the installation team and was given £30 for the damage to my brick or they will come and repair it,took the £30 as i didn't want another cowboy on site.

Phoned Customer service, why have not got my BT number? it has not been asked for,oh yes it has check your records.
Oh sorry our fault,it will be changed over in 4 days( i am paying 2 sets of line rental) we will credit your account with £10.50 to cover the BT rental,ok fine.
5 days later no change over, sent a email if not changed in 24 hrs you can bloddy take the system out.

2 days later i had a phone call at work,we are at your house to take the system out but can't gain access, have you made a oppointment with me(NO, then go away)
On the phone to customer service again, whats happening?
You sent us a email to take the system out:D ,why did i do that?
Sorry didnt we port the BT number for you(No)

10th November, you will have to take a new contract out if you want the service,as it has been cancelled free of charge under our 30 day rule.I dont have a new ISP as i cancelled AOL.
Ok start the service again,it will take another 7 days before we can port the BT number:mad:

Last week i got my 1st bill £29, with £3 charge for no DD payment,on the phone agian, forget the 1st bill as the service had been cancelled,What about the £3 dd charge as this was set up on the 1st installation,We will credit you with £3 towards your next bill as it will contain the charge and we will set up the DD then.

Last week promised a date of 21/11/05 for my number port(didn't happen, supprise, supprise)
On the phone again today why has my telewest phone line gone dead and my Bt line number not been ported?
Have you messed up again?
Sorry we have made a mistake(oh realy)
We will sort it today and phone you back:rotfl:
Has the 1st bill be cancelled install 29/10/05
No, we are waiting for payment,I was told it was cancelled as 1st contract eneded,Sorry i will cancell it.
Still No Telewest number(line dead) and No Bt port, and NO phone call:mad:

What can we say? Though no one has replied to you, I am sure you have a lot of sympathy here. I have heard similar stories about Telewest. One thing that often discourages me from taking advantage of the special offers Martin tells us about is the thought that I might have to go through what you're going through.
Eh?? I give up!! Towel is getting thrown in here! :D

My sympathies to you.......Telewest......ugh. I live in an area whereby TV reception is dire, although I live not 2 miles away from Alexandra Palace! I tried 2 outdoor aerials before signing up with cable and yes, a wonderful picture, took the phone as well. Decided to go for broadband. I have a laptop, not technically minded and new nothing of wireless. Man turns up wants to run a cable around my living room into my kitchen. When I took my laptop out of a drawer, he suggested I go wireless. Wow, says I, what a great idea - how clever, and I would be able to use it upstairs, Yes please. He said he would install the broadband cable to my cable box and the modem next to it, and I had just a short piece of wire from the modem to my laptop which normally sits on the kitchen table as a temporary measure. Off he goes,I went straight to the Blueyonder web page and yes, free installation of wireless.Phoned Telewest, within 10 minutes of the man leaving, relayed over what the guy had told me and they wanted to charge me £75 for installing wireless and would have to pay £70 for the modem. To be honest, I did not mind paying for the modem but not £75 for installation. There excuse was that I was an existing broadband customer!!!!!!!! all of 10 minutes. I tried to argue the fact that no-one told me about options available when I booked the Broadband installation although I did tell them I only had a laptop.

Okay, I now know about wireless and I could, if I felt capable install it myself
but to be honest, I would have rather paid to have it done. If I did not have such a dire tv picture without cable, I would drop them tomorrow - I do not want a satellite dish and Freeview is not available for my postcode and then theres the landline business. .Sorry if I have gone on,but they do frustrate me.

I have found that many installers will refuse to drill holes ... the reason being that if they do the least bit of damage (e.g. to a brick on the outside) every Tom, !!!!!! and Harry is using it as an excuse to claim from them ... therefore it is often cheaper and easier to refuse to drill ... but you alrerady know this.

The telewest engineer I had seemed to have no qualms about drilling holes in the wall? But when he'd finished, to check my broadband connection, he seemed to thing it would be a laugh to show me possibly the sickest website there is, its one that has a collection of the most digusting photographs of things like injuries in car accidents etc (I wont name the site as I realy wouldnt like to promote it).

Never had a problem when they came back in march to install my broadband. I need new sockets up stairs and they drilled holes in my wall for me.

I have never had any major problems with telewest apart from them telling me that as I was moving house and keeping telewest as my telephone and broadband provider that everything would stay the same username etc.

Had to phone them back a couple of times until a really nice man made sure that my username and password was the same as before and all my e-mails were there. He could not understand why it was not.

    Yours

My sympathies, they are a serious bunch of cowboys.

I was with them for some years but left because they did not supply digital in our area (still dont) something about having to replace all the cabling in the area.

and the only reason i stayed with them for that long was the local service manager lived next door to me so at least i could get stuff sorted out when it went wrong.

At least until they made him and a lot of other support staff redundant.

Its anyone's guess what will happen with them now they are becoming part of NTL.
