As if they could seriously think that it would cost £1.99 postage for a mascara!!
The seller just broke down the costs until they seemed reasonable...does not mean that is what they ACTUALLY spent the money on! :rolleyes:I have had brain surgery - sorry if I am a little confused sometimes

Sort out your editing!! I didn't say that!!! :rolleyes:British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
Sort out yours as I didn't say all you have quoted on either.
My point was Seller states she included all fees in the post and packing which is against policy so OP can report her.Had seller have said it cost x to post, x to pack and x for me to get the bus/park the car this post would more then likely never have started.0 -

The OP paid £1.99 believing this to be the cost of post and packing, not that she was paying the sellers fees. Post and packing charges covers the following: (as per ebay help pages)
Sellers may charge reasonable postage & packaging charges to cover the costs of posting, packaging, and handling the items they are selling. While eBay will not prescribe exactly what a seller may or may not charge, eBay will consider member reports when determining whether or not a seller’s postage, handling, packaging, and/or insurance charges are excessive. Postage & packaging and handling charges may not be listed as a percentage of the final sale price.
In addition to the final listing price, sellers are permitted to charge:
Actual Postage cost: This is the actual cost of delivering the item.
Handling Fee: Actual packaging materials costs may be charged. A handling fee in addition to actual postage cost may be charged if it is not excessive. Sellers who want to be sure they are in compliance with this policy may charge actual postage costs plus actual packaging materials cost.
Insurance: Sellers offering insurance may only charge the actual fee for insurance. No additional amount may be added, such as “self-insurance”. Sellers who do not use a licensed third-party insurance company may not require buyers to purchase insurance.
I am sorry, but it does not mention that paypal, listing and final value fees are to be included in this charge therefore, I stand by my first statement, the OP can report the seller for breach of ebay policy.
Don't all buyers pay the seller's fees in the act of paying for the item?
What difference does it make to the buyer if that comes out of the sale price or the P&P?0 -

I did not add anything, just took away! You did say this...granted it was not all you said, but I think it made sense!

As ive pointed out in another thread, it is common and acceptable practice to add extra onto P&P to reduce ebays fees.
.
And as I pointed out on that thread it is neither coommon nor acceptable to add more than a small amount to cover extras, and it is certainly not common or acceptable to admit to breaching ebay rules by covering all your fees in the p and p charge. Indeed it is a foolish seller who risks losing money in claims of loss en route, or risks their stars by charging silly amounts.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Haven't we had people on here complaining about that?
I think they thought it was deceptive and the seller was trying to hide something.
People are mad. Quite quite mad.0 -

yes someone recently was asking how they should mark the DSR's as the seller had hidden the postage costs by using paypal postage.
paypal postage automatically hide the postage cost and you have to check a box if you want to show it!0 -
This weekend I'm going to be revising my listings, changing keywords etc, but also dumping the "free postage" that I have offered for a long time.
I'm planning on increasing the BIN element of the price, but purposely put a P&P a few pence less than the actual postage cost, and making sure that all prices are displayed on the postage labels!!
I've been watching a few other sellers in various categories do this, and it seems to be working quite well - more buyers seem to be P&P savvy, and there are LOADS of threads about it on various forums.
Rather than ask "would a buyer pay £6+£3 for an item", ask ifthey buy it for £8.50 +£1...? From what I have seen with other sellers, the answer seems to to be yes.
This obviously pleases eBay as they receive more in FVF revenue, but ultimately ends up making things more expensive on eBay. The cynic in my suggests that this is the reason that eBay have put so much emphasis and education to buyers on P&P prices... It seems to have worked very well, and is a great business tactic.<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0
