Mydv-be careful-goods don't arrive-they take more than agreed from credit card.

Options
We bought a digi camera from uk web site Mydv. They took payment same day-took more than agreed and we never got the goods.
The money taken from our credit card was in dollars and amounted to £25 more.
Can I get help from the credit card company as it seems now to be a USA based company.

I have phoned Tesco credit card and now have our statement and don't know how to play this-do I ask for a refund as we did not authorise the payment on the figures Mydv took or do I get credit card company to chase delivery and ask them to refund as none delivery of goods? Will they do this as it turns out to be a USA company?

Help!! Thanks- Helen

One more thing to mention: the site does not give a contact address (very bad sign). Explain to your credit card company that this is a .co.uk site. The owner is trying to give the impression that the site is UK based, even though his details on whois show that he is in the US. I would take up the issue with your credit card provider now, as this site is not what it appears to be.

  • I'd heard a lot of bad things MyDV a while ago.

Just type MyDV in to Google, keep it to UK sites and you'll see all the negative comments on varying forums in many of the early search results.

If you've paid for a product which you then do not receive, you should be entitled to your money back, though there is probably a specified time you have to allow before Tesco will take action.

They've probably used their own exchange rates to give them the extra cash. The FAQ/Help section on the website is next to useless.

Not much help to you now, but it's always worthwhile checking about a bit before using a site for the first time.

  • thanks to myusernametaken and phantom flan flinger-we did try to find out about them before we purchased. I have called them they insist the goods are coming and each time I call they say they will 'ship the goods tomorrow'and we are to be patient-we have made contact 7 times now by live chat , e mail and phone.-no go! they wont let us cancel!!!

I have called Tesco now-they are sending forms-seems to be ok because we advised as you suggested that the impression is uk based site. Tesco will chase them and refund if no arrival-likely time 2 months-meanwhile we are £360 out of pocket.
It just worries me Tesco will believe their "the goods are coming" rubbish.
    Thanks again
It concerns me others will fall to Mydv problems-should this be posted elsewhere too?

You can dispute the transaction with your CC company. If you were qouted in ££s and authorised transaction in certain amount of ££s, they cannot charge you more than you authorised them. If you dispute transaction, CC company should request a proof of authorisation from MyDv. It always worth doing a printout of a screen with payment details.
