hi great minds!
reading thru "what security do you use" thread and martin's advice and realize my 7.5 avg anti-virus thingummy is out of date (on vista btw). if i go to avg mainsite they want to charge me £40 to upgrade to the 8.0 new version, if i go via martin's link i'm put into a site marked cnet download.com. how does that work then?
how can that site offer system free?
also - should i uninstall 7.5 before upgrading or does the upgrade do that for me?
and if you have any other advise - all welcome!
many thanks

Because you're not looking at the same product. AVG 8.0 is still free but there's a pro version as well that is paid for. It's still free on AVG's own website: http://free.avg.com/"She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Its supposed to unistall 7.5 automatically. But others have had problems so I suggest you uninstall 7.5 manually THEN install 8:idea:0 -
It's basically a cockup by whoever created that link on the "Kit out your PC for free" page. (links to Avast and Antivir go directly to the respective websites) AVG free version 8 is available here with documentation available here
