The best way to find out definitely is to ring/visit your local Citizens Advice Bureau or other Welfare Benefits / Disability advisors in your area.

  • While you are waiting for your visit to your local welfare rights provider you may find it worth trying the calculator at ENTITLEDTO as this should throw up if you are now entitled to means tested benefits to supplement your IB.

If you have a car you can get your Road Fund tax returned for all unused months once you have the certificate from the DBU. It will also allow you free parking in some places and free ferry/bridge toll if applicable in your area.
I presume you have a partner and she may be entitled to claim Carer's Allowance if you just have a daughter then she cannot claim CA while in full time education but (if you qualify for IS) you will be regarded as You can still count as living alone if you live with a person who is:
    • registered blind, or
    • on middle or higher DLA care component or Attendance
    Allowance, or
    aged under 18, or
    • a temporary resident or a landlord, tenant, lodger, joint
    tenant or co-owner.

this means your chances of getting IS are much higher as your Applicable Amount includes a Severe Disability Premium of about £44.15
