Cost of a wash

Can someone help me.
My washer uses 0.55kwh on a 40 degrees short was and takes 1hr 6 minutes.
So I work that out at 0.605 kw for one wash, at our lowest tarriff of 10.36p a unit. Can anyone tell me how much it costs to do a wash?
I have screenshot of consumtion details but do not know how to enter it here lol

You are billed in kWh so the answer is 0.605 * 10.36p = 6.24708pIT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

I have a Miele and worked mine out using 12.5 a unit (I worked out annual cost and divided it so takes both 'tiers' into account).
30deg wash = 4p
40deg quick wash = 6.75p
95deg wash was much more, about 20p I think but I only do that once a week. All other loads are 30deg.0 -

I haven't costed out the water yet (metered) but the washing powder (home mixed) costs about 7p a load. Fabric conditioner about a penny, I think.0

One of the things I was surprised with when I got my (various!) energy usage monitors was the actual comparitively low cost of doing a wash! According to my wireless monitor, it's waaaayyyyy more expensive to heat the water in the washer than to actually spin the clothes in it VERY fast. In some respects, this points to not only getting the best rated washer energy wise when you come to replce, but also the one with the fastest spin. Far cheaper to dry them *more* first by spinning at the highest possible speed before letting the tumble dryer do its job IMO.Call me Carmine....

Can you explain how you worked that out?
Checked the power consumption on the instruction book, it lists the different cycles and how mcuh energy/water etc they use, then mulitplied by teh unit price for the electricity
Not sure how to post the screen shot of itlol Have been able to check washer, dryer, dishwasher and shower as they cost most to run. Very interesting lol
We have just changed onto a tarrif that costs most to use from 5pm to 8pm so for example dishwasher during this high time will sot 70p for a load on the program I use but during the light tariff it will cost 26p. Shower at higest rate will be 59p and at lowest is 22p.
Considering some days 7 people in this house it all adds up.TOTAL 44 weeks lose. 6st 9.5lb :T0 -

OK your statement "My washer uses 0.55kwh on a 40 degrees short was and takes 1hr 6 minutes" sounded like you had measured the actual consumption. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0
