EU Regs re delayed flights - successful claim

I have trawled through quite few messages re the above. It appears most of these were discussing the regulations, seeking clarifications etc - but no concrete info re successful claims/outcomes.
Wondered if anyone has actually successfully claimed for a delayed flight, either got compensation or refunds. Can you say how long it took and pitfalls along the way.
I have full plane load of passengers e-mail addresses to liase with re a Ryanair flight!

hi
I made a claim and won pm me if you want any info0 -
I was hoping that amongst the tens of thousands of fellow travellers who have been delayed for excessive periods or had a flight cancelled or bumped off their flights that the response would have been greater....can anyone else help?
The EU regulations are now 9 months old so they must have been used successfully?!
Thanks.0 -
In May I booked return flights to Nice from Liverpool with Easyjet. On the outbound departure date the flight was cancelled due to a strike in France. For 24 hours no aircraft could fly into or out of France.
Easyjet checked us in for the flight, due to depart at 17:30 hours. We went as far as the departure lounge and then we were told that the flight was cancelled due to the strike in France. Our suitcases were dumped on the airport concourse. We were told that we could travel two days later; not much good really because the trip was Monday to Friday and late Wednesday to Friday would not have been worth going. We were advised that we could traipse to Luton and travel the following morning. Not really satisfactory as that would mean returning to Liverpool and then traipsing down to Luton to get the car. Also, Easyjet advised that we'd have to pay the current rate for the flight. I'd only paid £30 for the two of us for the outbound leg. Contrary to Easyjets policy we were not offered any phone/fax calls or any money for meals.
We decided to go early the following morning from Manchester using Jet2. This was expensive and cost a further £186. This seemed like the most cost effective way to do it so I booked it and that was that.
I wrote to Easyjet and I pointed out that they had not followed their own policy to the letter, in fact, they had hardly followed it at all. So on that basis I demanded that they pay to me the £186 that I incurred in having to book with Jet2. It took me some 6 months and a threat to invoke County Court proceedings. But they have now refunded the full amount of the Jet2 inovice. Therefore I will travel with Easyjet again now.
This case does not fall within the new EU regulations. The regulations do not cover industrial action. I simply felt compelled to act due to the fact that Easyjet had not followed its own procedure fully and properly. Further, I was very annoyed that Easyjet had allowed us to proceed to the departure lounge at 17:30 hours on the day in question when they knew full well that no aircraft had been allowed to take off in, or leave France for the preceeding 17 hours.0 -
