Have googled and can only find a an ISP with this name who we've never had any dealings with and sasktel.com who seem legitimate.
A bit suspiscious as it wasn't addressed to us by name and arrived in our spam folder. This is the whole email from "ICS Monitoring Team" sduffee@sasktel.net The gap, where I assume our ISP should have been appears exactly as in the email.
Your internet access is going to get suspended

The lack of personal details and mis-spellings, e.g. wich, makes us wary. The zip file which was supposed to list the illegal activities made our son's anti-virus go crazy! (We'd forwarded it to him as he stayed over recently & used the PC, he passionately denies any wrongdoing!) We haven't opened it as we were anxious it may be dodgy.
What do the experts on here reckon? Scam or guilty son?!
Cheers

Delete and do not for any reason open the zip file, its probably a virus, as you say the bad spelling is a good giveaway. They rely on peoples curiosity or fear to get us to open them. I get a few each day which are dumped immediately.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Never, ever open zip attachments to unsolicited emails such as this."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

Thank you both for your advice.
Poor mis-judged son!!!:D
I had forwarded the message to him and he scanned it which made his anti-virus software go bananas, (Thank goodness it worked!) so was definitely a virus.
Why do people do this? What could they possibly gain from it?
Can see holding big companies to ransom, but little ol' me and my daft email jokes shared among friends...?!Worse things will have happened in the world today..."The only thing that really matters, it to love and to be loved."0 -
sometimes its just done as a joke by the script kiddies. (much like the kids who like to paint their town red, and any other color).
others are more serious and contain trojans/key loggers to get info from your puter such as user names/passwords/CC details etc...Get some gorm.0 -
Definatly a scam as I received the same email this week too, and I know nothing has ever been downloaded on my PC, wouldn't know where to go and look!!!!0
