£7000 is within the ISA allowance of £7200 so the ISA tax wrapper makes sense. However, you can invest in around 50,000 different things within an ISA so it really depends on things like your risk profile, timescales, knowledge and experience, how you intend to buy and what invesments you want to invest in as to what will be best for you.

With over 50,000 options there is no way for us to limit those down to you without knowing anything about you.

  • If you were a pessimist you could try investing in cardboard boxes for the increase in the homeless predicited over the next few years!!..or soup kitchens.

Seriously though, you need to tell people what your level of risk aversion is before you get some decent answers

Invest in me. It's called the nzseries1 fund and expected returns are 31.8%. Promise! It's had great reviews!
You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.
  • Getting back only 31% of what he gives you doesnt sound such a great deal to me :p
  • The way things are at the moment I would find a safe bank (if such a thing exists) and put as much as possible in an ISA and the rest in as high a paying account as you can find, depending on whether you are able to tie it up for any significant period of time.
Of course who are prepared to risk things would advise differently.
  • Do that plus feed it in a little bit at a time, 100 a month is 70 months and I hope the depression wont be that bad tbh

I agree. Last year I was going to invest in some particular shares... glad I didn't. I was also considering buying a house... glad I didn't!
For at least the next 12 months, my money is staying right where it is - in Kaupthing Edge's 1 year term deposit.
