A friend of mine had a fantastic improvement with her PCOS when she saw a dietician.
I would also suggest that you investigate (just use google and include your area) if there is a charitable oganisation in your area which might be able to help, advise or support you in some way.

As I stated in my last post, you really NEED medical advice. Social Services will do an assessment and your wife could benefit from extra help (personal care etc) and this would also ease burden on you.
I think she would be entitled to DLA. You would need full backing from your GP but I think you need to get your GP to do a home visit so you can explain and he can see the situation you are currently in.
As you say, you are working long hrs whilst your wife is home alone, she is not mobile. Having help would be of benefit to you both and give you both a better quality of life until things are a little easier for you.
Your wife would defintely benefit from seeing a dietician and they would do a phone consult initially if you asked them and explained to them circumstances.
If you need any extra advice please PM me.

No it wasnt directed at you at all. I thought your post was very informative. I wasnt convinced that the poster was genuine as other posts have been posted in a similar vein and it didnt seem convincing. The quantities of crisps and high fat food belied the intention to lose weight.0 -
Hi there, what a difficult situation for both you and your wife.
Perhaps you could find the dietry advice your wife was given and then we could base some cheap and easy meal ideas around it for you? Otherwise phone yr gp and ask for a diet sheet appropriate to your wife's conditions, and ask for a referral to a nutritionist, even if your wife couldn't go you could keep the appointment and find out some more information hopefully.
The things that we usually suggest on here are meal planning for the week, making a list of all the items you will need, taking into account what you already have in your storecupboard, and then looking closely at the list to see if there are cheaper alternatives and then shopping exclusively from the list.
A lot of people on here, me included make plans that include stretching a chicken to more than one meal, so roast, then a pie or stir fry and then soup or sandwiches, and stretching mince, so cook as a bolognese, save some and use as chilli with more veg and spices and beans then turning the remainder into fahitas another night. These are just examples and there are many ways of stretching food to make another "free" meal from them. But before we can suggest anything it would be good to know what your wife has been recommended to eat and not eat, other than the carbohydrates, I would hate to make her condition worse.
Anyway, good luck and we'll come back with some more suggestions if you can try to give us a better idea of what she can eat and any recommendations that have been made.GC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -

If I read the op right, this guy says they haven't been eating correctly. If this is true then a look through their cupboards would surely illustrate that? Actually looking back, what high fat food in quantity do you mean? And there's only 4 bags of crisps listed (ms multipack?)
I get it! You're the TROLL! Hahaha, nice one, had me goin there!0 -

Is there a local Carers' Association? Might be worth giving them a ring if there is, they can be very clued up as to what benefits to apply for, as well as being supportive to you as the carer for your wife.
(((HUGS))) to you both, and well done for making these steps to improve things for you both.Miggy

If you do some research yourself you'll find I'm right, NICE have to offer gastric surgery to those with serious health issues due to weight. Now if you think that remark makes me a troll I'd suggest you spend a bit of time looking at the statistics on the success rates of dieting for long-term weight loss against the statistics on gastric surgery (lap bands, bypass etc) on long-term weight loss and I'll leave you to draw your own conclusions.
I'll also add that I'm on a waiting list for gastric surgery MYSELF because I've been overweight ALL my life and have tried every diet under the sun so FAR from trolling the poster, I'm offering advice which i'm following!! If that makes me a troll, then so be it. I'm not here to win a popularity contest.
The second part of my email, the RECIPE for rosehip syrup is indeed as near free as it's possible to be AND packed with Vit C.

And so do I!
Love the tip about rosehips, gonna get out there and track some down. I take it the boiling doesn't lose the vitC? Always thort it would but until recently I foolishly believed what the media (government) told me so now am open to suggestion
Thanks for the tip. I love rosehip tea but can't seem to find the bags easily anymore. If I just dried the rosehips (ground up) would that work?

edit: just stallin til you turn up again, wantingtochange08, but I do really want to know about rosehip tea too0
