If you're in the Armed Forces it's possible to get a free Scottish Youth Hostel Association membership worth around £9. This gives you access to 70 hostels in Scotland from around £12/night and over 470 International Youth Hostels.
To get your free armed forces membership, go to www.syha.org.uk/membership and download the Armed Forces membership form which you then send to their FREEPOST address and they will send your annual membership card to your address. I received mine within 2 weeks!!
