The scale inhibitor won't do any harm and could be of some benefit in protecting the pump. I have some reservations with fitting a 'sludge filter' as you call it. The picture is of a standard in-line strainer which will collect small particles of suspended debris. I doubt if it will collect sludge which is more of a creamy texture as this will almost certainly pass through the strainer screen. You could fit a very fine strainer screen of say 100 mesh which will probably trap the sludge but this would block the strainer quite quickly and the the central heating system wouldn't function as the water flow stops. This could also damage the pump. Far better to use a good quality water teatment additive in the system and let any sludge settle in the bottom of radiators where it can be flushed out occasionally if necessary.0

I think those scale things are a waste of money, even on a supply system. In a ch system, the same water goes round and round, so you won't be protecting the pump (or anything else) with it.
Regular maintenance (draining, flushing & inhibitor top up) is the best favour you can do for the system every couple of years. Also exercise all the stop cocks & valves once in a while, saves them seizing up over time.Signature on holiday for two weeks0
