Sony Psp At Savastore.com

Just to let all those looking for a great deal to BEWARE. I recently purchased a PSP value pack from Savastore.com. There was no mention of the PSP being imported, only when the despatch note came, it said that some of their players had the wrong instruction books, and provided a link to download.
The PSP was despatched with a uk adapter and in a Japanese box!
Clearly they are suppling imported models.
The problem is Sony DO NOT provide warranty to these models.
Savastore have not responded to my emails.
The PSP works fine other than O & X are the opposite way.
It's just the matter of warranty.

Beware.

    Savastore.........

If I had a barge pole I would touch them with it  . Terrible customer service and you can never get to talk to anyone!

  • Yup, savastore are part of Watford Electronics, who are usually referred to as 'Watfraud' - and generally for good reason.

I do know some people have never had a problem with them, but I know an equal number of people that have had problems.

Basic advice is unless the bargain is *significantly* cheaper than elsewhere, it's really not worth the potential hassle you could be walking into.

I should add that as they are a fairly big company, I ordinarily wouldn't take a stance like this because the bigger they are, the more you'll hear bad stuff - it's the usual rule of 'a happy customer will tell one or two people' and 'an unhappy customer will tell ten or twent people'. However, in this instance the boss of Watford/Savastore has been quoted many times as saying their customers are not top of their priorities (maybe he should team up with Gerald Ratner?)

One of many stores I would never buy from. Lowestontheweb; dialaphone; globalpositioningsystems.co.uk; Plusnet are others.

I don't even know why you are complaining at least you have one. If you never had one an was offered that you would bite there hand off. I have a jap version and i fancy sony WILL give the warranty of course they will. Anyway i'm very happy with it.
    stay lucky!

Sony will not honour any warranty claims on imported PSP's.

The problem is that if the original poster had wanted an imported PSP they could have got one for much less. They paid a UK price for a UK model with warranty and got a Jap import with no warranty cover. Big difference.

Wouldn't buy anything off savastore, once you have it they don't want it back even when its f****d on delivery!!!
If you think nobody cares about you, try missing a couple of payments.
  • I used to use them fairly often until I had to return an unbranded product I was sent when ordering a Sony badged one. They just seemed more bothered that I had opened it, more than the fact it was the wrong item in the first place and the box was brown with no markings so the only way to see what was inside was to open it!

If you don't get any joy from emailing them the general advice given is to contact them in writing and state what the problem is, along with the consumer act of (I can't remember the year), that the goods were not as described and as such you request a refund.

I've had exactly this problem in the past few weeks, the worse bit is all I've had from the company in question (ComputerWebstore.co.uk) is a dozen failed promises to fix the mistake. With no phone number given and a PO Box address the only way of contacting them is email, which they either ignore or try to fob you off. Absolutely the worst customer service I've ever experienced.

https://www.consumerdirect.gov.uk/ may be of use to you. I've had to contact them regarding my situation.

Here, you probably want The Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000. You’ve got seven working days from receipt to tell the seller you don’t want the item. You don’t even have to give a reason for not wanting it. This avoids the argument over whether or not it was as described, and is just the sort of situation the regulations were intended to cover. They’re supposed to make up for what you lose when buying at a distance, over buying face-to-face. If paulyce had been in a shop, it would’ve been clear to him he was getting a Japanese model, before he paid.

Savastore.com’s details on returns are on their Terms of Service page. Of course, you still have to get Savastore.com into action, and their T&Cs state that you have to pay for return postage. But, the seven days is your deadline, if it needs to be pursued further.

  • Thanks for the replies, just to make it clear, I will not be returning the PSP, after all they are difficilt to get hold of, I was just making others aware that if they wish to save money, and correct me if I am wrong that is the purpose of this site, than there are other suppliers of Japanese PSP's if that is your chosen track.
However, in saving money, you DO forego the SONY warranty, I know because I emailed them, and they kindly stated that they offer a repair service at a tidy £135.

Same thing happened to me with an Apple product. I thought it may have been a one off but obviously not!!!

I didn't even have to open the product to see it was unbranded but they weren't interested that they were advertising something different then what they were selling.
