Economy 7 charges

I have just found out that for the past 7 years I have been charged Economy 7 tariff rates but the night-time meter at my property has never been switched on (the numbers on the meter have always stayed the same) so all my electric has been calculated on the daytime rate.

I have never had storage heaters and have gas central heating so cannot understand why the meter has never been changed.

When I queried my meter with N Power they said that this electric is more expensive than on their normal tariff so would come out and change my meter. Can I claim back for the electric which I have been overcharged for. N Power state I will only be charged on their normal tariff with effect from the date the new meter is installed.

I would say that it is up to people to decide for themselves if they have the right kind of meter and are on the right tariff for them.

hence the reason I said IF it was Npowers error
  • I'd have thought Npower could (with some assistance from you with meter readings) estimate the balance between your day/night use and rebill according to that. Since they'd need to see what your use pattern is it may take a while.
