I was lucky enough to get the evening option , so not such a limited menu. Either way (and i know its not the best for vegetarians) that this is a bargain!
and after all for me Free food is AMAZING food lol! xxxJames thinks worrying is like a rocking chair, it gives you something to do, but it doesn't get you anywhere
If i help you...Please thank me! :beer:0 -
I adore sushi so I cannot wait.
Because my email didn't show up til just now, I booked twice so I have a spare place for 2 people on offer for lunchtime on 6 October. PM me if you want it and I'll forward you the email. I think it's for 12:45pm.0 -
I went yesterday lunch time and the food was very nice. Both of us are vegetarian and these options although limited were lovely.
There were a few problems in that M/C Confidential had massively overbooked but the manager found me a table upstairs. It might be as well to ring on the day and check that Ithaca are expecting you by name. Also take the Email , I forgot to do this.
PS Just looked at website and the deal has now finished !0 -
Anyone else got this email today????

Hi,
There is such a thing as a free lunch; eventually.
My name is Mark Garner. I am the Publisher of Manchester Confidential. I am feeling very sore today. I have let you guys down. The reason for this is that we have on your behalf agreed to give away 1000 free lunches and dinners at Ithaca, one of our favourite restaurants in Manchester.
We have invited 2000 people by mistake.
The people over at Ithaca have been great, they have sent over a plan for the event, making a number of tables available every week day for our account manager to give away.
Unfortunately our account manager has made one of the biggest mistakes I have ever experienced in all my days in business. She thought a cover was a table for two. A cover is a single person in restaurant parlance. Therefore she has given away 2000 covers.
The people at Ithaca have been swamped. Last night found people queuing at the door, rightly letting off steam.
To sort this out, what I am going to do is rearrange all bookings from tomorrow, Wednesday, 1st October. I am then going to meet with Ithaca to sit down and work out a plan that can get everyone their table, in a timescale that allows Ithaca to serve everyone with their usual professionalism as well as the kitchen brigade putting food across the pass which will impress the socks off you. This may take two or three months rather than one.
I am on my hands and knees apologising to you all. The buck stops with me and no-one else. I take your trust in no way lightly; the reason for Manchester Confidential's huge success over the past four years is our loyal readership, one that has swelled to over 300,000, each and every one of you arriving by word of mouth. Please, please give us the benefit of the doubt on this one.
My personal email address is mark@manchesterconfidential.com should you wish to arrange to meet me down a dark alley and kick the s**t out of me. You can also use it if you feel you need to contact me for any other reason to do with this matter.
Again, we will be in touch before the week is out to organise the rescue of this give away, which started in good humour and great faith.

Odd. I had a meal booked for Monday night and ManCon called me to reschedule as they were massively overbooked and (it sounded to me) pretty worried about their budget going through the roof. What time did your email arrive? Because I spoke to them this afternoon and they were surprised to learn that the offer was listed on here, as it was only available to people who had already registered an interest in their Confidential Privilege card (giving discounts on various restaurants and shops) and not to the general public. Apparently they are now checking Ithaca bookings against people who previously registered an interest in their card, so if you booked through this site, with no knowledge of the card, you may not get the meal you are expecting.
Please people, when you post freebie offers, check whether we're all entitled to them first!
manchester235.com/whoever let her/him know about this deal must have known about this condition as it was only offered to those who had previously shown an interest in the card. 0 -
Oh sorry for the double post but VEGETARIANS need to know this: Ithaca have told me (I emailed to check) that if you tell your server that you're vegetarian they will make sure your meal is... but NOTHING on the set menu is vegetarian (non-veggie miso and dashi in everything, they will provide alternatives but only if you ask).
Sorry tjcp.0 -

I still haven't had an email but they said they'd get back to me by phone by the end of this week so if they don't I'll call them.
You don't need the card itself as they haven't launched it yet, it's an introductory offer for those who registered an interest in (not a committment to) the card. They didn't mention a free meal when they asked people to register an interest, it was a surprise freebie, so if this is your first knowledge of the card I suspect you don't qualify. Why not ring them/Ithaca? Better than a wasted journey.
P.S. the guy I spoke to at Manchester Confidential in charge of the offer is called Jordan.
P.P.S. Cheers Miro, sorry don't know how to do the accent!0 -
I was wondering if someone can PM me a phone number for Mark as I got the email and sent him one back but did not hear anything; I have taken the day off work to go, and have spent money on train tickets to Manchester so need to see what is going on.0
