Bathroom leak!

Hi everyone
I've noticed over the last few weeks we appear to have a leak from the upstairs bathroom, which is making its way through the floorboards and into the rooms below. It's not such a big issue as we haven't been at the house too long and are planning decorations anyway, but it has basically caused marks on the ceiling and some wallpaper to come away. I obviously need to get it sorted before we spend any money.
Through process of elimination I have worked out that it must be coming from when someone uses the shower over the bath. Filling and draining the bath doesn't cause any dampness or discharge downstairs, but this does occur when the shower is on (the shower is fed out of the back of the bath tap). This suggests that either the grouting or the seal around the top of the bath has failed.
Assuming it is the latter, does anyone know what this sealing commonly is or how it is sold/dispensed? I'm hoping to sort it myself this weekend but obviously need to know what I'm doing!
Any advice?
Many thanks
BB

Would you believe that the stuff you are talking about is called "bath sealant". Probably best applied using a mastic gun, rather than the tubes that you can buy which are supposed to not need a gun. Mastic guns are very cheap to buy, they will be on the shelf near the tubes of bath sealant.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -

Cheers.
Think I have a mastic gun somewhere - will probably regrout the tiles first JIC. Do you know if there's any problem going over old grout (pardon the expression
) or should you dig it out a little first... 0 -
try to get at least 3mm of depth out of old grout this will help with the new grout sticking firm enough into the gap and also get rid of old staines that may pull throu into the new.0
