Advice required

Ive posted this question before, but after today I would love some advice.

The village I live in has no gas, I have storage heaters but hardly use them as I also have a wood burning stove and open fires.

My electric supplier is British Gas on their standard tariff.

After alot of problems with them, which I thought was resolved at the start of 08, over the fact that it took them nearly a year to realised that I didn't need a new meter due to the fact that a new meter had already been installed when I moved 2 years before and then the fiasco in getting my meter readings right, they eventually informed me that I owed them approx £323, after informing them of the woodburner/open fires and that they were basing all my bills on info collected through the winter months only they reduced it down to £23.

They then sent me my first bill, around May 08 for £13.12.

I have just received the recent quaterly bill of £85.19 and after phoning through my meter readings (dont trust their estimated readings), they inform me that the actual bill is £166.77!

When I informed them that I could except that bills would increase, due to the price hike, that still seemed steep compared with the previous bill, their answer was that some muppet their end had been inputing the meter reading I have been giving them the wrong way round! :mad: hence the last bill being just £13.12.

In hind sight I should of questioned the £13.12 bill.

So my question for all you experts out there is who and what tarriff is the best deal for electric only? as this Mupperty with British Gas has to stop.

I'm hoping the best deal isn't British Gas!
