recommend a mp3 player ... but have no PC

hello...my friend is looking to get a mp3 but has no PC....anyone know of any devices that dont need the PC to download the tracks from - ie. direct from CD to MP3?

i dont know of any, if there are they are v expensive and wuld be a time consuming process,

Good call, I think the latest MD (Hi-MD) have native MP3 support and can rip from direct a CD. Ok, so its not solid state but then that was never specified...0 -
I know of one its an IRiver H110/120 10/20gigs drive. You can plug straight into it so you don't need a pc, not cheap though, but really excellent quality for record and playback.0
