how much do ntl charge to call 0844?

I am currently on hold to them (as usual!) and want to call my hubby on his mobile in Russia. I can get calls for 1p a min but just need to check how much ntl will charge.
Does anyone know?

BT's charge is 1p/min at all times.

The NTL Tariff Guide is here. The list of non-geographical numbers shows that 0844 861 is rate in NTL Band pg8. Referring to the Price Guide shows pg8 to be charged at 1p/min at all times.
  • NTL charge exactly the same as BT to call 0844 numbers eg if its a 2p a minute 0844 number, both BT and NTL will charge 2p.(NTL of course have a 5p soon to be 6p connection charge). The majority of alternative carriers charge the same as BT except for OneTel who charge 10% more.

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker Car Insurance Carver!
(NTL of course have a 5p soon to be 6p connection charge).
Which is additional to the per minute charge whereas BT have a 5p minimum call charge.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
  • so to sume up: 1 min call on BT would cost 5p (minimum charge), on NTL 6p+1p.

30 min call to russia's mobile will cost 30p with BT ant 30+6p with ntl - still damn good, to call my friend in another UK town will cost more, and a fortune if I'll try to call UK mobile from BT or NTL for 30 min.... :D

Ask them to send you a copy of the NON geograpic definitions and a copy of their full tarif guide.

And while you're at it ask them why they don't list 0500 in the non geographics.
