Tax Credits say they no record of paperwork

Hi all well i posted earlier and got some good advice so i am back again :D
My earlier message was about tax credits wanting details i thought were invasive and ott.

Well i rang the number on the letter got the most unhelpful non apologetic woman ever  According to this person the claim is only registered in my name this is after my husband also signing the joint claim form she said there is no record of him at all therefore when they looked at my claim it showed another adult in household well yes there is he signed the form

She said they were investigating this that is why they wanted all the details of my bills, mortgage and so on now i rang last a week ago and was promised this would be sorted gave all my husband details all over again yet they can find no trace of this

I am now pretty jolly annoyed i feel like they calling me a liar i have done nothing wrong yet they are investigating me and it all their mess up and on top of it all she said it will take a long time .

Any advice please  my husband says just knock it on head but i not having them accuse me of lying to them  i done everything by the book and look where it got me

Thanks for reading

  • Did you complete all of the sections on the form for your partner or did he just sign the end of it?

If you have completed everything - name, dob, address, work/benefit details, income - then you can ask them for a copy of the copmpleted form.

You would request this as a SUbject Access Request. Or you could initially ask the compliance officer to check it out.
  • And to add to your post stating that all of the information requested seems invasive - that is the point of the investigation.

If they are saying your form indicates that you are a single claimant but they have reason to believe that you are a couple, they need evidence to prove you are single and financially independant of a partner.

There may be a screw up somewhere along the line but if you were a fraudster this sort of investigation would stop public funds being paid to those trying to fiddle the system.
