Buyer says items back in the post...help!

Hi, just wanted to know what you guyz think i should do?

I sent this guy 2 trousers recorded delivery on the 3rd Nov
and iv just today received a message:

"the item that i bought off you has been sent back to you yesterday by the post office . so it shall be back with you any time .. lol .. was working away and could not get to the post office to get it . "

If they do come back which im not sure it will, surely he doesnt expect me to pay postage again on the item, there's no mention of it there, i was just wondering whats the best way to approach this situation ? should i reply now or wait till iv recieved them? and should i let him know if he wants them he will have to pay postage again (dont want to put myself at risk of being left 2 negs so i want to keep it polite as poss) maybe he'l ask for a full refund which not really fair,

thank you all in advance

Dan

hmm interesting one .... personally I reckon that he should have sorted something out himself to make sure this didn't happen - ie if it was something 'really' important then it would have gone up his list of priorities ...

Without making it sound like he's broken a contract, I would suggest that you e-mail him and tell him the cost of posting the items out again, and also suggest that it would be unfair for you to foot the bill again. Unfortunately you might have to risk a neg, but at least you can follow it up with 'item returned uncollected, buyer refused to pay' comment ... to be honest there are a few people on here worried about getting neg'd, which is a shame when it's not your fault, but at the end of the day it wouldn't put me off bidding for something - look at some of the examples of fraudsters who've got pages of negs, and yet people still buy from them .... !!!

    hth, Marc.

To be honest he's admitted it was his fault, and I'm sure that you originally stated you would be sending it by RD (I always do).
Therefore it is reasonable to ask him to pay the postage again, as this non-delivery is not actually your fault.
It's BOUGHT (to Buy), not BROUGHT (to bring) AND you cannot be frauded, only DEfrauded.

Please do not buy animals from a pet store. Visit your local sanctuary or centre and give a good home to an unloved or abandoned animal.
  • Had this problem myself and I always people let know when an item has been dispatched so they can expect it as RM don't always drop the card through the door, once took me nearly 2 months to get something back off them.

It's his fault it wasn't collected so advise him to pay postage again if he ever wants to see the trousers again! Or maybe offer a refund and sell them again, obviously you're not guaranteed what they'll go for second time.

Have you been paid for the item? If so ask him to send you the postage or to come and collect it..
    GONE ENGLAND
  • If he still wants them ,Ask him if he has an alternative address so they can be signed for .
  • I've had something similar happen to me this week. I sold a bodywarmer in october (only for 99p plus the P&P). I hadn't had any feedback from the buyer, but had had no complaint that the parcel hadn't arrived either, so I just put it down to someone who wasn't into leaving feedback.

Anyway the postman rang the other day and said I had a returned parcel - good job I always put my address on parcels - and explained that they had been unable to deliver the parcel and had left a card (?) but the person had not collected it so they have sent it back to me - the packaging was well trashed as well and infact the postman actually appologised. Any way the contents are fine and I have emailed the buyer saying I have her bodywarmer back and if she still wants it then it will cost her the P&P again for me to repost it. I must have been in a good mood as I also offered her the 99p (but not the original P&P) back if she doesn't want it - couldn't really be bothered with any hassle!!! Still haven't heard anything though.

I have had this happen twice. The first time I stupidily sent it back and told the buyer to send me the postage - guess what they never ! This is now happend again but this time its not getting posted unless they pay me. Problem is can they then file an item not recieved ? it was a cheque payment.

ps the byer said this time they couldnt collect it as they were on holiday - lie there account has been active. I also had to file a non bidder to get them to pay in first place.

Well I have still not heard back from my " buyer " wether he is going to pay the postage! Four days and no reply. Not sure what to do now- he has soooo messed me around. Seems like people who cant be bothered collecting their items from the post office cant be bothered answering their emails.
