Trying to save money with British Gas Homecare

I had british gas homecare a year or so ago and I canceled it because i decided it was wasted money. I restarted recently hoping to get reduced priced repairs on some problems I have been having (pressure dropping, shower running hot and cold). Now on top of my £17 a month fee they are going to charge me £274 for repairs.
I am not even sure what the repairs meen.
He said i need my flu moving(why didnt they see this last time I was with them?)
and something else i dont understand.
on his notes he left me it says
"Install magnachan and run pru to safety position"
anyone got any ideas how i can reduce the amount all this is going to cost me.
I am skint!
thanks

You say that you cancelled BG Homecare because it was wasted money. Well, it wasn't, if you had kept up the policy, it would probably have covered most of your problems. You cannot seriously expect them to come in now and deal with a load of pre-existing faults.
When I took out a contract with a local firm, they insisted that I paid for a boiler service first. Then they surveyed the system, and only then did they sign the agreement. Now, the annual service is part of the contract and included in the cost.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
We switched to BG Homecare a few months ago from the service plan which came with our boiler. The initial inspection highlighted a few points which are now not up to the current regulations but no action was needed. I can see how the regulations might have changed so that what was ok last year now needs attantion before they take on a new contract.
Sorry I can't offer any help - but as a warning to others it might be best to have service plans on boilers overlapping when you change from one company to another. I think the fact that I hadn't cancelled the last plan might have had some bearing - although it shouldn't have had!I am the Cat who walks alone0 -
I suspect that run pru is infact run prv which means the operative thinks it is unsafe where it is. What the other bit means I have no idea are you sure you have got it right? The world is over 4 billion years old and yet you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie0

Not sure what you're expecting tbh..
This is like crashing your car and saying "ooo, best get Fully Comp instead of 3rd Party Only".
Sorry, but BG are well within their rights to charge you for the work.0
