VOIP phones?

We're about to lose our land line, so I need to get a USB VOIP phone to use with Skype. I've looked at some reviews, but they're all over the place. There's nothing close to a consensus, which makes it hard to choose. For the cheaper models, anyway.
Could someone please recommend a cheapish cordless phone that will work with Skype? I currently have a Mac desktop and a pc laptop. The latter is running on XP. Come December, I'll have to get a new laptop, which will have Vista. Some of the phones don't seem to have Vista drivers for them (yet?). I need something that's a bit future-proof that will work with either Vista or Mac OS.
Thank you in advance for your time.

How are you going to be getting internet access without a landline? Just asking because VOIP is a bit ropey over 3G sometimes, especially on an evening.0

It's via cable with Virgin. I haven't actually tried it yet, but my father gets his broadband via cable in the states, and he uses Skype just fine.0

you might want to get cordless skype phone that plugs into your cable router Ethernet port. The convenience of not being tied to the computer, just like a normal POTS phone.0
