Safestyle - front door quote

Hi,

Safestyle were going to come and quote for a front door but didn't show up. They asked us to give them another chance and they would charge us trade for our inconvenience, as we had to wait around.

The door quote was £2200 new, but they have said they will do this for £760.

I am guessing their margins are pretty huge, so not sure whether to trust this is a good deal or not - any thoughts?

It's for a white UPVC door.

thanks!

  • depends on door size and design if its just a door and frame with no glass in the surrounding frame in white then this is expensive
if you think peoples advice is helpfull please take the time to clicking the thank you button it gives great satisfaction
  • well they were quoting 1800 for no glass and 2200 for a window with a small glass 'semi circle' at the top. He offered to do either one for 760 but obviously wanted and immediate answer, so I have until tomorrow morning!

If they started at 2200 and have dropped to 760 they are taking the p - I wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw one of their employees. Find a local company to do it who don't use expensive TV advertising.

Do a search fo "safestyle complaints" before commiting to anything.

they were willing to take 2200 quid off you, and youre wondering if you should buy their product?
are they are a reputable company to deal with?

    Get some gorm.
  • £760 still to dear, don't be fooled by big name I make these doors they not worse on market but not best either and not worth £760, I fitted quite a few of these for about half your qoute, better to find local independent just make sure product they use are manufactured to bsi spec.

Do not use Safestyle, I had them fit me a porch door last year and was was dissatisfied with the cost and the quality. I contacted Trading Standards over this and was told that they were under investigation in West Yorkshire, she could not tell me why. I would not let them near my house if it were for free.
  • I paid £2200 about 5 years ago for a DG bay window and a front door with semi-circle glazing at the top. For £2200 for just the door, I would expect solid gold door handle and letter box.

Our next door neighbour is a carpenter/chippy and he quoted us £600 to put a UPVC door on the front. This included the door the frame glass in the door the locks and everything fitted. He uses a local company for the UPVC doors and windows as he reckons they are better quality.
He is a perfectionist as well lol. When they moved in he replaced the windows. 18 months later he decided he wanted a "different style", so replaced then all again. He offered us the old windows (we are a semi so same size units as ours) for our back as we were only front double glazed, for £20 a piece. In the end fitted he charged about £40 a window.
Defo try a local supplier and fitter.

My mum's just had several quotes for a new pvc door. A local tradesman quoted £500 for supply & fit, but at my insistance she got another couple of quotes. I wish I'd not bothered as she unwittingly called Zenith (another Safestyle-esque outfit) and found herself at the mercy of a cliched 3 hour £2200 - phone the manager - £1500 - phone the manager - £780 hard sell. Suffice to say she sent him packing. What a load of nonsense - I'm amazed anyone falls for it these days.

I never buy from someone when they start dropping the prices like that. If I'd have jumped straight away, they would have overcharged me.

A standard door with a small non fancy glass in the middle shouldn't be more than £600 or so. The price they are quoting you is probably their normal price but are making it sound like it's heavily discounted. £2200 for a door?? They are having a laugh!
