Sony NS300 Multi Region Codes - help please!!

I've got a Sony NS300 region 2 DVD player and want to make it multi region. I've searched for several codes and found quite a few, but most ask me to press buttons 1, 3, 5 etc on my remote. The problem is, there are no numbered buttons on my DVD remote. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong or ant suggestions on how else I can convert the DVD player?

One solution would be to get or borrow a universal remote - such as the cheapish ones by One-For-All - which you can set up (through a numeric code that you look up on a make/model list) to appear to be a Sony DVD remote, and it will almost certainly have working numeric keys.
