Special Day
I wonder if anyone can point me in the right direction??
I was due to attend an activity day from one of the agencies that offer them, but with less than 24 hours to go they cancelled the day.
Now their terms and conditions go on at length regarding if the purchaser cancels (eg, no refund - once arrangements confirmed they cannot be cancelled etc..). So you can imagine I am a tad miffed, having lost a days holiday along with my brother, (who purchased the day at a couple of hundred pounds as a birthday prezzie for me) cancelling the overnight stay in a hotel, and so on......
I was just wondering if anybody else has been in this position and if by writing a stiff letter, I can get my brothers money back. I now am really not interested in another date for the day, being treated to this short notice.
Thoughts anyone??

What kind of activity day was it? Was it cancelled because of the risk of bad weather? You and your brother must be so disappointed, hope you get it all sorted.0

I think you might have a problem if the issue is deemed to be an act of God (i.e. weather related) but you may have a case if it was an aviodable problem. There was something on the TV a while back about someone who had booked a hot air balloon day and all sorts of issues arose primarily to do with the weather but, since the company was considering the their customers safety, it was deemed to be acceptable behaviour.
As others have said seek proper advice from CAB or a solicitor.
IvanI don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!0
