Plan to avoid motorway service stations

I was in my local Tescos last week and for the first time ever noticed they print a UK directory of all their stores. Its laid out on nice big maps and clearly states which stores have petrol stations, restaurants etc... You can also look up each store by their number at back of book for directions of how to get their from major roads etc... I'll be keeping this in my car for future reference and try to stay away from service staions - this could save me a fortune and I'll get club card points!

When I go away either on a day trip or on uk holiday one of the first things I do is to check out where all the local banks and supermarkets are so if I need cash I can get it. And if I need a pit stop I can get fed and watered cheap and use the loo at the same time.

But is there not a website called 5minutesfrom or something that lists all supermarkets and cheaper outlets just 5 mins away from the motorway.

Another good book which shows Tesco, Sainsbury etc... stores just off the motorways is The Great Motorway Secret. Some copies were given away free by Martin in a competition a couple of months ago but I had to send off for mine. I keep it in my glove box and reckon I've saved a fortune already.

Its so good I'm going to get a few to send as Xmas presents.
