Change to Ebico
I am thinking of changing my dual fuel supplier. On the comparison sites Ebico look very competitive but I have read a couple of comments that they are not a suitable supplier if you are a high user, which unfortuantely I am, although I am trying to reduce this. Their website doesn't specify any limits so what do these comments refer to. Thanks

There are no limits, it's the same price for all units used. So it doesn't get cheaper after a certain number of unitsThis is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0 -
Unlike most suppliers EBICO's per unit price is not dependent on consumption. Most suppliers have a higher rate for consumption upto certain level and above that have a lower per unit charge, which would benefit you if you have high usage.
On price comparision sites if you give your consumption it should calculate which one is overall cheaper for you, taking into the above pricing structure.
Also fyi EBICO's billing will be handled by another supplier depending on region - I am in London and used them for 3 years. Here southern electric was billing on their behalf and I found the customer service was excellent. (Over the years I've used Powergen, Npower, British gas and they are by far the best amongst the lot)
not sure if it is still the case, but minor drawback few years back was that no price comparision site offered switching service to EBICO and so you'd miss on things like quidco or free case of wine. However that should be minor compared to the cost saving you'd make if they were cheapest supplier for you.0 -
The reason why Ebico aren't the cheapest for medium to high users is, funnily enough, because they use the wholly admirable one tariff rate for all. The other energy companies on the whole adopt a 'confusion marketing' approach with either a standing charge or 2-tier pricing system, whereby Tier 1 is charged at a higher rate for a pre-determined number of units, you then progress to the much cheaper Tier 2 rate (some of which are much cheaper than Ebico's single rate).
The more you consume, the more of your bill is charged at the much cheaper Tier 2 rate, hence medium to high users can usually better Ebico's prices. Plus Ebico don't give discounts for paying by DD (the charge is the same with Ebico no matter how you pay, including pre-payment meters). My very low-using father is now on Ebico and very much better off than previously. I'm a comparitively high fuel user so it's cheaper for me to use Click 5 (or most other online tariffs from the other suppliers). HTH.Call me Carmine....
HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??0 -
without looking at it too in depth just now , i assume an `average` user ie 20000 units of gas 3300 of electric , that isnt going to be a great idea using ebico ?0

That's a reasonable assumption. I use 6500kwh gas & 1500 kwh elec, EBICO is great for me.This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0 -
