  • it should be on a sticker attached to the router.

if you have already done that try reconnecting.

i am on sky and had endless problems with wifi until i switched form a USB dongle to a PCI card. fixed it instantly.

The encryption key is the password/key you use to log into the router to change the settings. What make of routr is it, you coudl reset the router to restore it back to default settings but you will need to find out the default username and password
  • can you move the computer and the router closer together?

you could try connecting using a cable, see if that works, you'll at least be able to get into the router settings.

it could be some kind of interference. and there could be infinite things causing it. anything wireless like cordless phones can cause problems, or washing machines... or hoovers... or... not necessarily in your house either, could be a neighbors.

there could be neighbors using the same wifi channel as you, that can cause problems. a good program to check for that is netstumbler. if you can get in to your router setting you could try changing the channel to either 1, 6 or 11.

wifi is hard to get working perfectly.
