Fiat Punto help!

Hello I wonder if anyone can help me, i have a 1999 fiat punto elx its just come out of the garage following a new battery and radiator repair.

Unfortunately despite seeming to run ok for about 30 minutes after the engine has warmed up when going up hills or even stopping at roundabouts the power seems to go and it is sluggish and slow to respond unless revved.

It then appear to magically speed up sometimes scarily so, I wonder if anyone can give me a hint as to what might be the problem, or is it so obvious I`m just having a blonde moment?

many thanks

  • Does the engine computer light come on when it does this? My Punto (51 plate) has similar problem, it judders and slows on occasion, usually when it's been standing overnight when it's rained. hills are usually the worst, but recovers when I rev it for a bit.

I have taken it to the garage (Fiat dealer) numerous times and all they can do is re-set the computer, which fixes it for a few months but it comes back. Apparently it is a known problem with Punto's.

Sorry that doesn't much help you though!
