Try putting slices of lemon in water in the microwave for a minute or two - that will get rid of the smell of leeks.
If you do not want to waste the lemons and water - you could freeze them for drinks etc."This site is addictive!"

if the bag is fake leather, that means it's man-made and can probably be washed ok. You have nothing to lose by trying. I would just wash it in a bowl of warm soapy water, and when it's dry, rub a little oil on the outside. But don't dry it near a radiator or similar.
