Hi. I am hoping to do a prince 2 project management course by distance learning- ideally I would do one that combines foundation to practitioner- does anyone have any recommendations and idea on cost?
Thanks in advance.

Hi
You are taking on a biggy - the following is intended to raise your awareness and not to put you off!!
Do you have work opportunities to practice what you will learn? I ask because
Prince 2 is not for beginners and is intended for complex projects - the best way to learn is by doing it.
I suspect it will be expensive even by distance learning standards and probably hard to find suppliers.
Have you a background in PM? Will your employers support you? It may be worth doing a series of 'day release' or block courses to build your skills.
Check out the web - there are plenty of sites for practitioners etc
Good Luck

Sorry its taken me so long to respond- I have had the flu and am still suffering a bit!
I work as a PM on large PFI schemes and so would use the knowledge gained. I was thinking about doing the course as a way of qualifying the skills I have already and wonder if anyone thinks it is worth it?
Thanks in advance.0 -
I did PRINCE2 Practitioner this year as a department I work with have recently adopted it... I've been a PM for a few years and in my existing job it hasn't made much difference. That said its a useful qualification for work elsewhere and I didn't find the course too hard going - but it wasn't distance learning however -
Due to a c*ck up one of my colleages (another experienced PM) came to the course the day before the practitioners exam, it was assumed he'd done it before and failed - he hadn't seen it before, but he did read the book! He passed foundation the first day and practitioner the next. Again
Its also worth bearing in mind that you have to renew your practitioners by sitting an exam at your cost at least every 5 years. If it were me I'd try to convice your employer to pay and do a course (assuming you aren't a contractor - if you are then I'd do the course at your next break as it is a good one for the CV!).
Next for me - I'm doing the APMP in Jan - that should be fun!0
