going self catering for the 1st time abroad - what do we need to take?

There is a Lidl in Palma Nova too which has similar stuff to the UK Lidl. We usually take teabags, coffee, sugar and the dregs of an old bottle of fairy liquid.

I always take ..Teabags, Heniz beans, my own fork and pillow case ... everything else i buy there!

Just go and have a good time , dont worry you can buy everything there that you can buy here.

I take tea-bags & a small jar of Gold Blend coffee. You can get UK brands but they usually work out more expensive, especially if you only need a small amount. Y

You could always take a small bag of dried milk in your luggage, in case you're late getting in and can't get fresh or UHT.
