going self catering for the 1st time abroad - what do we need to take?

There is a Lidl in Palma Nova too which has similar stuff to the UK Lidl. We usually take teabags, coffee, sugar and the dregs of an old bottle of fairy liquid.0

... everything else i buy there!

I take tea-bags & a small jar of Gold Blend coffee. You can get UK brands but they usually work out more expensive, especially if you only need a small amount. Y
You could always take a small bag of dried milk in your luggage, in case you're late getting in and can't get fresh or UHT.0
