Where is the Heater motor resistor located on a '98 Ford Fiesta?

The heater fan on my wife's ford fiesta only works on the 4 setting. Nothing happens on settings 1 to 3. I have been told that the heater motor resistor needs repalcing.

Does anyone know where this is located? and how do I replace it?

    Fairly sound diagnosis.

It's probably (not 100% sure) built into the fan motor. It is on all the ones I know, but may be wrong ;)

If it's like the Mondeos/Focuses et al, it's in the fresh air vent pipe on the passenger side behind the glovebox. The cause of failure is a blocked pollen filter. The blocked filter doesn't allow air to flow over the resistor pack so the thermal fuse blows.
  • i would assume its on the switch?

You'd assume wrong. Ford haven't had the blower speed resistor on the switch for decades.

heater resistor on a ford fiesta is located under the carpet in the upper footwell in the front passenger seat. it is easy to change and can make your blower work on all 4 settings when changed.early ford fiestas suffered overheating on the resistor causing melting on the mutiplug which it connects two.

replace some of the wiring to the resistor aswell as its not uncommon for the wiring to burn when the resistor fails aswell,
