They all seem to take different timescales from immedietely to a few weeks.
I am waiting for one from 2 weeks friday.
Who is it with? And what sort of survey are you having?
Just keep on top of it and keep chasing!Pawpurrs x

this is the thing i dont know who it is or what sort it is, which worries me more as at home i am the one chasing things up and dealing with things but its all in the advisors hands and all i can do is ask him and am told not to worry, but as i dont know whats going on i am worried. all i can tell you is how much its going to cost, apparently they have been instructed but the money is still in our account.0

If you're buying anything other than a newbuild or <10 year old property, you should really be getting a survey better than the basic lenders valuation. The information contained therein is a) very important and b) a useful negotiating tool.
Many FTB's (I assume you are from this question) plump for the basic survey to save money but it's a false economy. A full survey rarely costs more than any of the discovered problems would cost to fix.
If it's not too late, see if you can upgrade to a proper structural survey and get the surveyor to confirm a date. The vendors should also be alerted by the fact their prospective purchaser is digging deeper. Good luck!Signature on holiday for two weeks0 -
yes we are FTB's the surveyors fees are £280 i dont know if this gives you an idea as to what type of survey is instructed?
i just want it all to hurry up as i dont want to lose the property.0 -
Sounds like a basic valuation, what sort of property are you buying and what age is it?
Its up to you what kind of survey you have, a basic valuation will be just a quick look, to see if they are happy to lend on the house, a homebuyers survey is more indepth and then you have the full structural Survey where you will get a long list of everything that needs doing to the house and nearly allways reads like a house of horrors.
Some vendors will renegotiate on survey, others wont.
If your buying a old house its expected that things will crop up, timber and damp being one of the common ones. Wooden windows neading repair etc.
Just keep on top of the broker and chase it, if you dont hear anything.
Who is your mortgage with?Pawpurrs x

Well I would be more worried buying a new build than an old house personally, how many of them will be standing in 100 years?Pawpurrs x

we prefer the older buildings and this one is older, will look at brochure to remind me and let you know how old roughly, lol
and double glazing is new, central heating is new and wiring is 5yrs old.
and our mortgage promise was/is with halifax and after last week this is why im worried. or should i say MORE worried0 -
My mortgage is with Halifax - they done the survey immediately back in June literally 2 days after instruction and the only reason I had known they had done it was because we visited the place again that night!
Call the Halifax direct - your mortgage offer will have a reference number you can quote0 -
From my experience, once the survey (home buyers report, including valuation for lender, £475 in total) was booked through our lender (Nationwide) last month, the appointment was arranged within 30 minutes that same day. The actual survey took place three days later.
I received the report in the post 9 days after it was completed.0
