Hi
Just after some info if possible
We currently claim IS. I am disabled receiving HR DLA and my OH receives carers allowance for looking after me. I also receive Direct Payments from SS to pay for some care each week. I also use some of my DLA to cover some extra help around the house to make our life a little easier.
My OH had to give up work 3 yrs ago to look after me but he would like to work a few hrs a week from home so he is still looking after me and we dont have to pay for extra care whilst he works IYSWIM. I think OH needs a complete break from me weekly and the work idea would be great for him but I would like to sort some extra care so that he doesnt have to worry about me whilst he is working.....thats a whole other issue though:D
We had both always worked up till I became ill a few years back and I would love nothing more than to go back to work but this is impossible and my health will not improve. OH as I do gets very bored!
My DD (13) also receives DLA.
Questions I have are:
(1)Will my direct payments be effected if OH works PT?
(2)Are there any back to work benefits or grants as OH is thinking of setting up his own business?
(3)I have entered details into Entitledtoo.com but I dont think the figures are correct as it seems to high! It states that we would stil get some IS and WTC plus some HB and CTB. It says we would be better off by about £55pw...it seems too much
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
PP

If you're the claimant he can do up to, 24 or 25 hours I think it is and you can still claim IS, you just loose everything but £20 of what he earns. Of course then there is Carers Allowance, as long as he doesn't earn over the specified amount or do over 16 hours you would still get the IS Carer's premium. I don't think the entitled to amount sounds right but it might be. If you contact your local welfare rights office you might find them more helpful. I don't think Direct Payments are effected by work/not work in a decductions sense, but surely there would be reason to increase the Direct Payments if your care needs changed. One day I might be more organised...........

GC: £200

maybe different for me as a single parent but i started back at work this week and if there calvulations are right im £60 a week better off (well its a few pence more than that but this is rough estimate)
i get dla for 2 of my boys this wont change as its not taken into calculations

£250 grant for returning to work
£40 a week for 52 weeks as long as i work 16 hours or more
working tax credits (dont know how much yet)
child tax credits though again i dont know how much
4 weeks hb and council tax run on, i have to contact council as i will still get this but not as much
i will be earning around £400 a month (im part time minimum wage 16 hours a week but no more than 30 hours, my estimates were basked on 16 hours a week)
i also had my work shoes brought for me (had to take recipt in) and a claim is going through for 1st weeks childcare (though i still had to pay childminder for 1st week, she will just let me know when she has got it)DFW nerd club number 039
