Need new Ford Ka Steering Rack - help!
Hi
I have had a power steering fluid leak on my ford ka for a while now, which has recently got worse. I have been told that I need a new steering rack and know this is a common problem on Ka's.
My local dealer will charge £800 for it - I simply cannot afford this - does anyone have any advice on how to get it done cheaper? I live in Leicester, so a local garage recommendation would be great!
Thanks

How about getting the steering rack from an eBay supplier - see http://shop.ebay.co.uk/?_from=R40&_trksid=m38.l1313&_nkw=ka+steering+rack
A local independent should be able to fit for you - mine charge around £40 per hour.0 -
Thanks for that - will have a ring around to see if any local garages will do this for me - £800 is just ridiculous!
Has anyone else had this problem?0 -
if you can do it yourself your best option is to go to a local breakers, its not that hard job.
Otherwise try Parts gateway.0 -
If after exploring options with garages it's still prohibitively expensive get a Haynes manual, tool up, and give it a go yourself

You could probably get the rack reconned in 24 hours. Don't know your locations but if you are in the south east, recommend 'Steering EAC' - they are quick, efficient and good - prices are competitive, but realistic.Genie
