Lloyds Tsb Home Insurance ; Be Careful!

Dear Colleagues
Recently I applied for a Personal Home Insurance plan with Llloyds TSB home insurance online via the Quidco cashback site. Lloyds were offering a big £120 cahback for "any" policy taken out via this route, & the quote itself was attractive. I applied and was accepted and then the cashback was refused.
Lloyds TSB customer services made it clear that cashback was NOT available to me as I have a Personal Home Plan, and only customers who took out an Options policy with them via Quidco website are elegible for cashback. They intended to offer cashback to Options policy customers and not to Personal Home Plan customers. Of course I did not know any of this when I applied for a policy, as I assumed that all policies qualified as that was the plain meaning of the words . I feel that I, and many other customers have been misled by them (though not by Quidco) as none of the above was made clear on the website. I would not have signed up to the policy without the inducement of cashback, although it was still in itself the best quote, so there is no point in rejecting the policy itself.
The moral is that even if you read the small print you can be mislead. Big companies offer the inducement of cashback to lure you in and then change the rules to avoid payouts. Whatever goodwill Lloyds had they have lost and I would be wary of them in future. Quidco acted honourably in this and now have changed the wording on the website to make the distinction clear. My advice would to be wary of Lloyds, especially since they are now going in with HBOS
