You would expect to only use a little gas at this time of the year - although 39p a week if you use gas to heat water is very low.

You will obviously use more gas during the winter for heating.

When did you start paying £38 a month? and how much is your account in credit?
  • Thanks
i don't heat water every day ,only as i need it
i also use my gas cooker to cook
i started paying in june and my account is in credit by £137.09

You need to find out what your annual kWh consumption is and then you can arrange for your monthly DD to cover your actual usage. There is no other way to do it.

Yes and no. As you go through the winter and start using your heating, watch the units and your credit balance. Once you get to the end of January, you should be able to take six months' usage and double it. Work out how much that costs and divide by twelve for your monthly cost. So long as you are realistic, your supplier will probably be happy to reset the DD.
