I think there has to be a tiny gap either side, something I was reading on here, can't remember the reason for it though sorry. You may walk and you may run
You leave your footprints all around the sun
And every time the storm and the soul wars come
You just keep on walking0 -
I Find that manufacters measurments are a couple of mm on the high side,The gap need to be square though,I would think it will fit and you can always give it a Shove!! Its not the best answer, but will proborbally work,If you cannot take the risk i would advise against buying it.OH THE JOYS OF BEING SELF-EMPLOYED!! Can Travel,Will Work For Free!0

Good morning: The OP would need to provide further details i.e specific cooker for the definitive answer: however, where the manufacturer's instructions do not give clear guidance, the recommended clearance for a free standing cooker is minimum 20mm either side to the base unit. Manufacturer's websites usually have manuals/specifications online....you could also call for details. Your local CORGI (who has 'cooker' qualifications...not all do) could advise you. Visit CORGI to find an RGI and check his/her qualifications.

No it wont fit - just like a 6mm dowel won't fit into a hole 6mm in diameter.
Even if you could squeeze it in, you would have great difficulty opening the oven door."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0 -
Thanks for replys so far
I called a store today; they said manafucturers ask for some clearance, but basically people genearally dont like gaps and the manufacturers just say that to 'cover themselves'. He thought that it should go in ok.
I get the dowel thing; but wondered if the dimmensions are always the max possible and probably are a little under in reality.
Door opening thing is a good point.0 -
 We are talking about gas cookers...minimum clearance is a legal requirement. Retailers shouldn't be giving unsafe advice. I recommend you call the CORGI consumer advice line 0800 915 0485 and ask them what the minimum clearance is: alternatively ask your installer.moneybelle wrote: »Thanks for replys so far

Corgi verified that unless instructions say otherwise (as they can require no gap) 20mm clearance is requiredCanucklehead wrote: » We are talking about gas cookers...minimum clearance is a legal requirement.
