Not very techie but as far as I get. I'm buying a nintendo DS lite and when I was in game the other day thay have extended warranty for £12.99. I usually run a mile from extended warranties but wondered if this may be worthwhile as apparently (according to the salesman) they can break easily. thanks

  • Well they would say that ... actually it's true kinda. The main things I see are a broken hinge and a broken screen - obviously a consequence of tapping the screen with a pointy thing hehe ... as long as it includes accidental damage and depending who it's for (ie are they gonna accidentally damage it), I would probably say yeah in my opinion.

thanks for your quick reply - apparently it covers everything and it would be for a rather clumsy 9 year old girl. I think it runs for 2 years so I thoght it seemed quite a good buy I just didn't know if you could maybe buy this sort of thing independently as in insurance cover. speaking of covers the other thing the salesman said was that a cover is a good idea to stop it getting damaged when dropped. Maybe I don't need this if I've got the cover. thanks again.
  • My six year old and eight year old have had DS lites for two years and haven't managed to break the screens yet or the hinges. If the hinges break Nintendo ar eusually pretty good at fixing them.

I wouldn't bother with the warranty myself. If it has good accidental damage cover it may be worth it but persoanlly I never bother with extended warranties.

Some sort of case for the DS is a good idea as it protects it and depending on the case also gives you somewhere to store games and a spare stylus etc.
It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die

  • I don't suppose you would know where to go to get one repaired?

DS (8 1/2) has managed to snap the hinge on his and would like to see whether it's worth getting it fixed.

All help appreciated, and apologies for hijacking the thread!!!
  • Well I have a DS and had it for 3 years, its the old style one, and not had a minutes problem with it. Although the dog did eat the charger so had to buy another one of them (£5).

Also look at getting a DSTT!!!!
"Well, that sounds like a pretty good deal. But I think I got a better one. How about I give you the finger, and you give me my phone call"

  • Not worth the cost getting fixed but insurance is a good option as long as there is no excess on the policy (mobile phone insurance is notorious for this).

    Hi to shadowdragon

Ive just got the cycloDS for £35 and a 8gb microsd for £13.99, i know the cycloDS is more expensive but the quality is superb, really nice card adapter and alot of support available online. Cant say how easy the other ones are to use, but, cycloDS is drag and drop and away you go (think the others are) never skipped a beat. Not sure, but i think its the only one that supports SDHC cards aswell (shoot me down if im wrong!)
Sometimes its better to nod and just look happy!!!
