Barclays Home Insurance - Price Match Exisiting Policy and Pay you £25!!!

I rang up Woolwich Telephone Banking today to check a few things on my account and the lady asked if I would be interested in a quote for home insurance as they had a number of offer.
I was a little reluctant but they put me through to his friendly lady at Barclays Home Insurance and she talked me through the quote.
I only have a one bedroom flat and only pay £59 for a basic contents policy with DirectLine.
The lady quoted me £149 and I said there was no way I was willing to pay that even though they did offer a couple of better features than I have at present. When I said I would leave it and was about to hang up she said Barclays were offering a price match offer and wold match my current policy like for like. They would also pay me £25 in High Street Voucher which can be used in a number of shops!
My existing policy is not due to run out until February, I called DirectLine and advised they would not charge me a penalty for cancelling my policy early and would refund any money pro-rata'd that I have not used the policy.
Also Barclays will pay a "portal fee" to your existing insurance if they charge you to cancel the insurance but I did not discuss this bit as did not effect me.
I suggest you pull out your existing policy and see how much your paying and contact Barclays to see what they are offering and if they charge more they will price match your policy and pay you £25 in High Street vouchers.
This is only available on the phone on 0800 15 16 17.
They will not pay the vouchers to you until you have sent in your existing policy to prove what your paying. You need to take out the policy on the same day you call them and will not hold the offer open to you to think about it for a few days.
Also they don't charge interest on monthly instalments.
EXCELLENT DEAL :T

A bit confused here

Why would the Woolwich tell you about Barclays home insurance ?
Two rival banks
I guess the woman you spoke to is now an ex-employee :rotfl:0 -
Woolwich is owned by Barclays and is used to sell mortgages. It's no longer a separate business - just a brand of a bigger one.You don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.0

That sounds good - I've been mulling up switching our policy to Barclays recently. Will look at it again this weekend.
JulesThe ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.0 -

No No No...
The Woolwich is now owned by Barclays Bank! I think they have owned them for about two years.
For example Woolwich used to have their credit card and this got integrated into Barclaycard.
It is very similar to Cheltenham and Gloucester which is owned by Lloyds TSB. The big banks want a slice of the mortgage business.

I switched to Barclays earlier this year as they were the cheapest for us. We had to claim on the insurance policy a couple of months ago and they were great, very fast and efficient.0

Downside with these sorts of offers is that they sometimes sting you at the start of the second year and you have to move again.0 -

Ain't that the truth - purely by chance the good lady rang Gnatwest last year and got a stunning deal on our buildings and contents insurance - renewal time and it comes in at over £500, nearly £210 more that last year!!
Still, can't blame them for trying can you
