Tax credits review letters - confused

Does anyone else remember receiving a letter last year about having their tax credit award reviewed from 2003/04 and/or 2004/05. I remember it saying they would get in touch when it had been completed. A couple of my friends received the same letter and it did say if there was an overpayment it would not have to be paid back but if it was an underpayment it would be given to us. My friend phoned up because she was worried and they said quite a few had to be reviewed because wrong amounts were paid and it was nothing to be concerned about. Since then we've heard nothing. However I was reading on another forum about someone who'd received about £1200 from 2004/05. I just wondered if anyone else had heard anything??

The letter was in August last year!

  • Everything confuse's me about Tax credits. I have never understood the forms and never will. Luckliy i'm not entitled to them anymore, so it's only this tax year that I need to keep an eye on. So far in the last 2 weeks i've had letters saying I owe over a £1000 and an other saying under £100. If they carry on, it will be another letter to the minister on DWP, which worked last time.
  • Hi,

I received this letter last year as well. I received a letter a few months ago telling me everything was ok and that I was not underpaid.
  • Only been getting child benefits for the last two years, but the last change in nursery fees caused 12 new forms to be changed, due to wrong figures input, duplicate letters being sent for each of us... well a real waste in money, energy, stamp and paper ! So much for the government trying to be more efficient !
